Iron Man de Anne Pogoda

Iron Man
Painter, Photoshop
August 2010

STATEMENT: I LOVE IRONMAN!

And so I couldn't be happier as my boss demanded me to paint him one for his wall. I hope that he will like this one since I really did my best to make him precious and shiny! He was based on the tons of drawings I made of this subject in the last weeks for my own amusement.

We also had the most awesome Livestream ever featuring this painting. The video is up now, it is about some general painting advice and about texture, texture, texture!

Have fun guys.

ZEE VIDEO OF AWESOMENESS: http://livestre.am/kEd6

Update: My approach on the Iron Man armor, finally finished. I referenced this from a movie screenshot, but I put my own twist into it, changing it here and there, mainly to make him a little thinner to be able to move better but also manly and "attractive" by changing the form of shoulders and hips. XD

I can't decide if I shall like the golden or the silver one better. What do you guys think?

Arte Digital de Anne Pogoda

...the girl who seemed to be made of all light
Photoshop
November 2006

This is meant as the opposite of "Doom".

First of all I have to say that I worked very very long on that face. I finally wanted her design to be done and I saw that I should learn from some "old masters" now. That's why I took my books and looked for artists I'd like the most. One book was featuring french masters and I picked Fragonard and Bouguereau as my favorites to learn from.
Influences can be seen here, because I just love their way of painting backgrounds and floating dresses.

I also started to make her costume for real. http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/8784/wheyoz1.jpg

My personal tribute to Tekken's Devil Jin!
Some time in 2006, I wanted to make a Tekken fanart Dojinshi, but then It occured that I got so much work with commissions and stuff that I sadly had to scrab the idea - and so it all ended with this coverart.

D'Artiste Sketches
June 2011

Thought I could share. Please enjoy.
By the way, if you bought the book make sure to watch the tutorial videos that come with it also. There you can see my work with one of these drawings.

If Tony Stark had 'my' face I would give him... this one.

IRONMAN ARMOR: http://darktownart.cgsociety.org/gallery/912987/ :

Hmm.... a template of expressions. I must say that I like it a lot. It is quite different from my usual stuff but that's because I did it at my free time and not as a commission.

Since this is the first time that I did such an expression table, some of them may not look "perfect" and I totally screwed up the "sad" face because I somehow cannot see this character being sad - it makes me laugh because it doesn't suit him

Reunion de DarkTownArt (Anne Pogoda)

Reunion
Painter, Photoshop
January 2009

I was asked to do a big fantasy painting for Painter Magazine issue 25. I did not often illustrate couples, eg. paintings that feature more than one person in the past so this was quite a challenge. And therefore this tutorial is for advanced users. You will see that once you want to illustrate more than one person the whole thing becomes quite challenging. That explains why many artists only illustrate one figure.
The workshop is about storytelling, e.g. iconography so I decided to focus on the relationship of the figures and which questions this creates. I also had to include two key elements which are a key and a map. To that I added colors, roses, roots and a castle.
Because all of my Painter Mag workshops include parts that show how to work with stock photos, I went into the forest some time in November, as the project was assigned and took several photos of trees and leaves. Such photos were used to create a base for the leaves and bushes that you can see here. Red blobs, such as for the roses were then painted on top. The stock photos that I created for that painting can be found on the disk of the magazine from where you can take them and use them to experiment on your own paintings.
I also featured two outsourced stock photos for texture. The key I sadly can't find anymore so if someone knows who took it please let me know!
The map is from night-fate-stock [link] who was properly credited in the magazine, too.
I also suggested people galleries of now-a-day artists who like to paint couples/ several figures in one painting. So I recommended Jean Tay as an example. On top of that I had a look at Marta's work once again since she is pretty good with dramatic scenes and amazing dresses. But this was just to keep my quality high and nothing in particular.
This painting also includes a little joke since the guy might remind some of you pretty much of Devil Jin. For others he might just be some sort of demonic knight? Or so... The orange dress was designed for Melanie Delon. Since she also did a painting of me, so I owed her this since too long already...
Blahblahblah - As you can see I have done my best to credit and mention everything properly for this very time consuming work. If you find that I have forgot something this wasn't on purpose. Please be so nice to let me know. Thank you.

Music de Anne Pogoda

Music
Photoshop
May 2007

I really don't know why I have forgotten to post some stuff of mine here, like this wonderful speedpainting
It was made for a contest (Theme: Music) and it won ^_^
Later it also was part of an art exhibition and the original framed handsigned piece will go to Italy this week. I really hope Ale will like the print - it looks so much better big printed and black framed than on this monitor - really you can believe me.
By the way, this is my white girl, and she might be a part of our next project

China de Anne Pogoda

Title: China
Author: Anne Pogoda
Software: Painter, Photoshop

The image that is incomprehensible at a first sight. It renders the Chinese girl who inherits the world and in whose hand there is a bright lantern that eradiates . Worthy concept that attracts attention and makes us to ponder over it for a few minutes.

Thief Of The Hidden Treasure de Anne Pogoda

September 2010

NEW coloring style PAINTING VIDEOS: http://livestre.am/i84L | http://livestre.am/i8qO

I got this finished not completely 'just in time', but it's finished now, ten years after I discovered my first comic featuring Lara Croft the Tomb Raider and thief of hidden treasures, the art inside was drawn by Andy Park and awesomely colored by J.D. Smith.

This made me all go love for the american comic style and got me into drawing humans. I was always fascinated by the way those comics were colored, but from this day on it would take me years to discover how I could do something like this myself and to find out that I might want to do this for a living.

Also, some years ago I kinda ran into Andy and we had some chats about digital painting and such. By this time I also asked for permission to put hands on some of his pieces. I also got a Wicked cover stored on my HD that he drew - no clue when I will finish it since commissioned work keeps interrupting me from personal stuff.

For this one I tried out a new technique, working on the basic coloring with Painter first to create some texture, then taking the whole thing into Photoshop and working it over heavily with dodge and burn (Iiiih, lol! ).

Last but not least I picked a fuzzy brush to add some final detail

Apples Kiss de Anne Pogoda

Apples Kiss
Painter, Photoshop
November 2008

..Shall I?; - what if the apple is all she has left? Would she keep it or destroy it? There is a fresh grave waiting for her. She will die anyways...
This issue was a massive issue for me. I did not just have this major tutorial that this image was made for on making patterns with Painter, I also had some pages of the pro corner to take care of.
There I explained how to paint rain, deal with backgrounds and make custom brushes. I really hope that you will like this issue. ^_^
This image is also featured in a tutorial for Artsquared's recent book with friendly permission from Imagine Publishing.
EDIT: I disabled comments for this because I really don't like how some people "behave" when I paint a fairytale image.
Last but not least, yes I have as always worked with references, I will say that everytime again, I am not that genius, and yes I am "lame" for doing so. Blahblah. And one more yes, there is a detailed part in my Painter tutorial showing how to use references and stockphotos. I don't feel ashamed of it and the beginners will be thankful for that. And yes one more time, I am a big fan of Enayla!
Have a nice day.
