Millie and the Spider de Evniki (Sue Marino)

Millie and the Spider
Photoshop
August 2007

About a year ago I did a quick doodle on the computer, I quite liked it as I was very new to computer graphics. (BTW it was awful!!) Looking back on it I realised I had learnt so much from you guys over the last year, and I hope improved, that I went back to it and fiddled till I got fed up with it! There really is no story to the picture, but it would be cool if the picture suggested a story to you. It's difficult to say how long it took but I worked on it off and on for about 3 days.
All done in Photoshop with Wacom using "googled" refs for the insects.

Anne's Necklace de Evniki (Sue Marino)

Anne's Necklace
Photoshop
September 2007

Hi everyone,
I wanted to paint this after reading a book about Elizabeth 1. Anne Boleyn was her mother and Henry VIII's second wife. Anne was beheaded by King Henry when she was still young, accused of having affairs with several young men. She was beautiful, intelligent and ambitious.
This was painted in Photoshop with a Wacom over about two days with only an orginal portrait of Anne Boleyn as an initial inspiration. Many thanks for looking.

Winter Masque de Evniki (Sue Marino)

Winter Masque
Photoshop
December 2007

Hi All
This started as yet another doodle and grew into a wintry theme.
Painted in Photoshop 7 with Wacom. I fiddled with the picture over several days so I'm not sure how many hours I spent altogether.
Belated Happy Christmas to you all and a peaceful New Year.

Arte Digital de Evniki (Sue Marino)

May 2007

Hi Everyone
Another face!!! I hope I'm improving thanks to your valued comments on previous posts.
I used a very old and rather out of focus photo of my daughter as a ref to begin with. It hasn't ended up looking like her at all, but a portrait wasn't my intention. She was only about 11 when the photo was taken (I would show you the ref photo but she would kill me as she's at that tricky teen age now!) Should tell you this took about 7 hours all in all working in photoshop with a wacom tablet. I would very much appreciate your comments.
Many thanks for looking
Sue

August 2009

I wanted to experiment a bit with colour and lighting for this one so I fiddled around for ages till I thought it looked right. I've been looking at it for so long now that I can't even tell what it looks like anymore! So.. time to post and see what happens.
Painted in Photoshop using Wacom. Thanks for looking

Women of the Waves
Photoshop
May 2009

After the ship she was travelling on went down in a storm the young woman, now between life and death, enjoys the freedom of skimming over the waves; but the mermaids have spotted her and like all young beautiful women who die at sea they want to take her for their own.
Painted in photoshop with my wacom tablet. It's taken weeks! Not really because of any technical difficulties but just because it's been through so many different phases and I've been so indecisive about the composition, colour scheme etc.
Anyway thanks for looking

The Reading de Evniki (Sue Marino)

The Reading
Photoshop
February 2010

I haven't uploaded a picture for ages although I've done loads; they just never seem good enough. So although I'm not entirely happy with this one, I've made myself stop fiddling and show it to you! Can't be sure how long it took, but certainly over a week on and off. I saw a gorgeous picture of Lilly Allen and used it as my ref. If you're interested you can see it here http://www.roxwel.com/artists/artistpicture/lily_allen_artist_photo3.jpg.html

All done in Photoshop with Wacom tablet.

Just a simple portrait done for fun. It's no one in particular and no ref was used although I did see a photo of Beyonce and tried to emulate the lighting effect as I really liked the light down the side of her face!.

I found this beautiful image on Deviant Art:
http://linzstock.deviantart.com/art/Elegance-29-61899042
for which many thanks go to the talented Lindsay Archer.

I really wanted to paint it and to try a more painterly style...for me. I more or less copied the image but no too obsessively. No overpainting or colour picking was involved. It took me around 8 hours I guess, which is quite quick for me.
Thanks for looking,
Sue

Karina's familiar by Evniki

Karina's Familiar
Photoshop
August 2008

A doodle of an eye that grew and grew! Done in photoshop with Wacom. Took about 10 - 12 hours I think. The first time I've painted an animal like this; I enjoyed it, I think I'll paint more.
Personal ref used for the hand and googled squirrels for her pet. Hope you like it.

Floating de Evniki

Title: Floating
Author: Sue Marino
Software: Photoshop

Not a very imaginative title I'm afraid! I just couldn't think of anything so I went simple.
All done in Photoshop CS3 with the Wacom. I suppose it took me 2 days on and off. I had fun with the water; I hope you can tell it's water! Quite a lot of usage of the smudge tool on this. For me the face came together quite quickly and easily; usually I have to faff around for ages getting the skin right etc.
Thanks for looking
Sue
